Nanay Belen Mulingtapang was supposed to have a grand party on January 24. Everything was actually ready for the party – from the gown she’s supposed to wear to the party supplies. They already booked the events place, paid the caterers, and hired the photographers, makeup artist, and live band. The mobile bar as well as the lights and sounds provider have also been booked.

But when Taal volcano erupted, a lot of people were displaced from their homes and had to stay at evacuation centers with little food or clothes. She didn’t have to do it but Nanay Belen decided that her birthday would be more meaningful if she spent the money on relief goods, not in a grand party.
