The cases of COVID-19 continue to rise exponentially. In the Philippines, there are now 462 confirmed positive cases as of 4PM on March 23. As the numbers continue to go up, it really is important for people to take this matter seriously.
In Cagayan de Oro City, a sari-sari store went viral for a video that brought good vibes for its clever idea to promote social distancing. Amid the threat of COVID-19, it’s not a good idea to mingle with many people but it is also a harsh reality that people sometimes have to do that so they can provide food for their family.
So, this particular sari-sari store decided to remain open – but it decided to implement strict social distancing measures.
The gate to the sari-sari store is closed but the store remains open. But buyers need to use the bucket to put their money in to pay for the goods they are buying. Then, the shopkeeper pulls the string of the bucket to get the money and put the items inside the bucket. The customer pulls the string back to get their goods.
The video was rather hilarious as the kid buying from the store just could not help but laugh at the novelty of this idea. But while it looks hilarious, the social distancing measure was hailed as a genius idea on Facebook where the video has gone viral, gaining over 5.3 million views in just a few days. Wow.
