When one talks about the Middle East, particularly Kuwait, what often comes to mind are the problems that many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have experienced in the hands of heartless employers. Many were not treated well, not given enough food yet are made to work long hours with little rest – and some are even made to work in several households without extra payment.
But there are also many who were lucky enough to have generous employers who know how to compensate them well for their extra-long hours at work. There are also employers who actually treat their workers like family, generously giving them lavish gifts and spending for their family’s financial needs, especially during medical emergencies.
Estela Nebril Tillo Samorano and Julie French Melo Paglinawan are among those domestic helpers who were lucky enough to have employers who treat them like family. When they were set to go back home, their employers even posed for a family photo with them, including their male employer!
OFWs know that such is actually rare because most employers don’t like to have their photos taken, especially with their household workers!
But it was rarer still when the employers brought the two to the airport and were not ashamed to cry as they hugged the two Pinays, bidding goodbye.
Dave JF, a former taxi driver in Kuwait, shared the video taken of the domestic helpers and their employers crying at the airport.
#KUWAIT Masarap sa pakiramdam kung ang employer mo tinuturing kang kapamilya❤👍Umuwi na ang mga suki ko.God Blessed😇🙏 #proudOFW #spreadlove
The video has gone viral, with many netizens saying that they are happy these two have found great employers. It was good news, indeed, especially considering the many bad news we hear from Kuwait and the rest of the Middle East regarding the plights of Pinay domestic helpers working there…
