The “Filipino Flying Doctor” Evacuates OFWs, Goes to Hospital Duty on the Same Day

Dubbed as the “Filipino Flying Doctor”, Erwin Conrad Abueva is both a pilot and a doctor. What’s so amazing is that he recently spent a day evacuating OFWs from East Timor before heading off to night duty at the hospital. Wow.

Dr. Abueva works as Physician at Carmona Hospital & Medical Center in Carmona, Cavite but is also an Airline Pilot/First Officer at Pan Pacific Airlines.

On Monday, May 25, 2020, the “Filipino Flying Doctor” had a rare day of performing duties on both jobs – and it’s a great opportunity that he could not help but document throughout the day. The post would later go viral, with many praising him for having two amazing careers.

Early that morning, Abueva left home to be start the day at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), preparing for the repatriation flight for OFWs stranded in East Timor. As airline pilot for Pan Pacific Airlines, he flew the plane from Manila to East Timor, picking up the stranded OFWs at 11:05AM.

By 5:10PM, Abueva was back in the Philippines. Instead of heading straight home to rest, Abueva went to Carmona Hospital & Medical Center for night duty. He was still in his pilot uniform when he arrived at the hospital at 7PM. Whew!

Amazingly, this pilot changed into scrubs and was ready for night duty at 8PM. Impressive, isn’t he?
