According to a Facebook post from Bellevue Public Schools, teacher Trey Payne of Logan Fontenelle Middle School in Bellevue, Nebraska had his shoes taken from his classroom by a still unknown person. It is not known whether the area had CCTV, but they were unable to find who got the shoes so they can take it back.

Saddened by what happened to their beloved teacher, a group of students thought about gifting him a brand new pair.

In the videos shared by his students, including Emma Mitchell, Mr. Payne was surprised when they handed him the gift bag. The students gathered around the teacher and urged him to open the letter first.

You’re all making me nervous,” the teacher said, unsure of what was going on. But the students just laughed and took videos.

Mr. Payne was surprised to see the shoe box inside the bag – and more so when he saw that the box actually had shoes inside! Overcome with emotion, the good teacher put the box down even as he cried out, “Are you serious?

With the students giving him a collective “Yes!”, the teacher shook his head and cried. The kids rushed to give him a group hug. Awwwww. It’s so sweet.

It’s more than a pair of shoes, it’s about doing things to build everyone up around you. I try to show my kids this and I think the lesson has sunk in for many, in turn, reaffirming my purpose and my ideals,” Mr. Payne later said.
