Everyone says that education is the key to success, yet there are so many students deprived of education due to lack of money and other resources they needed to be in school. Thankfully, a lot of poor parents also value education and make sure to send their children to school, despite the hardships they have to face in doing so.
Moreover, there are a number of teachers and other kindhearted individuals or groups who provide support for these kids to reach their dreams.
Recently, a teacher named Muhammad Nazmi went viral after he sold his precious toy collection to buy school supplies for his students. Apparently, the teacher was assigned to school in a rural area in Sarawak, Malaysia, where the students did not have enough money to buy school supplies.
Despite the hardships that he and his students faced, they became close with each other. Teacher Nazmi became their second parent and he treated the kids of SK Long Sukang like his own children.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the teacher was not able to meet with his class face to face. Government protocols prohibited this kind of contact.
But when Teacher Nazmi was told that he was going to be assigned to another school, he wanted to leave something as gift for his students before he goes to his new assignment. Because he did not have a lot of money, he decided to sell some of his precious action figure collection so he can get them some school supplies.
Posting on Facebook, the teacher admitted that he doesn’t really know whether someone will be interested with the collection. But he hoped that someone would buy the collection so he can buy the school supplies for the kids.
Teacher Nazmi did not have to wait for long. Soon, someone bought the entire collection – and he rushed to the mall to buy the stuff he needed for the students. Then, he distributed these to the kids and bid them farewell. He made sure to encourage them to try their best in their studies and succeed in life. What an inspiration!
The kids were quite happy with their farewell gifts from Teacher Nazmi. He might be leaving their school but he surely left something really precious with them, aside from the gift of school supplies: the inspiration to do their best in life, no matter the circumstances.
