While a lot of parents aren’t exactly thrilled when their children fall in love while still in school because this could lead to a lot of complications and could affect their studies, there are many young couples who prove that it is possible to juggle both love and reaching for their dreams.
One perfect proof of this is a couple who both managed to make it to the Top 10 of the 2019 Physician Board Exam. Febby Tabunda Diabordo ranked sixth with a rating of 89.42% while her boyfriend, Carlo Jay Dejelo, placed tenth with a rating of 89.00%.
The couple both earned their medical degree from the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute (DLSHSI) in Cavite where they both received full scholarship.

Instead of the relationship hampering their studies, the two were able to use this to their advantage. Having a partner with the same course means that you don’t only have an inspiration, you also have the perfect study buddy who understands exactly what you are going through!
“It’s not hard for us to be in a relationship while in med school since both of us understood the toxicity of our schedule. We just made sure that we spend quality time with each other,” Dejelo said.
The couple followed this formula in their 6-year relationship which began back when they were both still studying in college.
While they completed their degree in medicine from DLSHSI in Cavite, the two both graduated as Cum Laude with a degree in BS Chemistry from Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, back in 2012.

But placing sixth in the 2019 Physician Board Exam is not Diabordo’s first time in the Top 10 of a Board Exam because she had also ranked 9th in the 2012 Chemists Licensure Examination. Wow!
It seems that most of this year’s Physician Board Exam topnotchers were also topnotchers in their respective pre-med courses! What a blessed group of new doctors… Congratulations to you all, especially to this smart couple!
