In the Philippines, we’ve seen a lot of movies involving babies being swapped at the hospital – sometimes accidental, sometimes intentional. But a couple in Rizal recently experienced getting their baby swapped at the hospital! The experience angered netizens who hoped justice will be served for the couple and their child.
A couple named Marvin and Aphril Sifiata from Rodriguez, Rizal sought help from the “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” TV program after they alleged that their baby was swapped at a hospital in their locality.
According to the couple, they had evidence that the baby that Aphril had given birth to is not the same one that they received shortly afterwards.
They were able to take some photos at the time the child was born and later at the nursery. The baby boy weighed 3.9 kg, had a short nose, and had thick eyebrows, eyelashes, and bushy hair.
The baby given to them looked so different from the one they had seen and photographed at birth. Although still a baby boy, the child had thinner hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows. The child also weighed less than 3.6 kg.
Moreover, Aphril gave birth on January 18 but the other child’s tag showed that he was born on January 17. Also, the baby had a different family name at the tag; it was not ‘Sifiata’. That’s the biggest red flag!
The couple first tried to get their baby back at the hospital but they were unable to do so. Moreover, the other family believed that they took home their real baby, not the Sifiata’s child.
Though Marvin and Aphril took good care of the child and fed it well, they just didn’t feel love towards the baby they knew wasn’t theirs. The hospital already shouldered the DNA test for the child and Aphril but the couple decided to also seek help from “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” just to be sure.
When the story was featured last week, a lot of people slammed the couple for being ‘insensitive’. Many said that this couple would surely feel really bad and the child will live in shame when the results come back positive!
The show paid for a second DNA test – and the results came back negative! According to the DNA test, there is 0% chance of maternity. This means that the child is really not their baby.
After the negative results came out, the other family finally decided to cooperate. They promised to undergo a DNA test. They also assured the Sifiata couple that they are taking good care of the child with them and that it is very much loved because they believe that the child is theirs.
