A lot of companies played silly pranks on their customers for April Fools’ Day. There were many that announced the ‘launching’ of new, totally unexpected products or ‘renamed’ their regular products with hilarious new names.
But a Pizza Hut outlet in Malaysia had a very different approach to the April Fools’ Day prank by sending a Ferrari to deliver their customers’ pizza! Isn’t that impressive?
“Pizza Hut has always been known for bringing so much more than just ‘pizza’ – everything we do celebrates the pizza itself, the power it has to turn an ordinary moment into a fun and memorable one,” announced the Chief Marketing Officer of Pizza Hut Malaysia, Emily Chong.
“This year, what better way to celebrate and amp up the fun spirit of April’s Fools Day than by pranking our customers with an unexpected twist in our delivery service.”
The marketing strategy was designed to, hopefully, make the brand go viral on April’s Fools Day and to uplift the hearts of customers who might be feeling sad amid the COVID-19 crisis. After all, the pizza itself will make customers happy but getting one delivered by a Ferrari is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
As the special Pizza Hut crew delivered the pizzas to some lucky customers, many netizens felt a twinge of jealousy that they were not able to experience getting their food order delivered by a supercar. Sigh. I really do feel jealous. LOL
Though the Ferrari sported a lot of Pizza Hut stickers, a lot of netizens doubted this will be used as the delivery vehicle for the entire year. That would definitely be too expensive for the brand, huh?
