A few weeks after breaking his neck in an accident while taping what would have been his comeback show on GMA-7, 90-year-old veteran actor Eddie Garcia has bid goodbye to the world.
Since he met the accident while taping for the TV series last June 8 in Tondo, Manila, the actor remained in critical condition. Regular medical bulletins repeatedly showed that he had minimal brain activity and was relying on ventilators and other machines for life support.
The actor had been taping for a new teleserye which had a tentative title of “Rosang Agimat”. It’s his first project with GMA-7 since “Little Nanay” back in 2015-2016.

The multi-awarded actor had remained in critical condition, with the family announcing that they requested for a DNR order (do not resuscitate) as was the actor’s wish. The actor was awarded on his hospital bed with the 42nd Gawad Urian award as “Best Actor”, but he didn’t also respond to the presence of his family and close people from the entertainment industry who were there to present him with the prestigious award.
Eddie Garcia’s passing on Thursday, June 20, at 4:55PM was announced by a medical bulletin issued by the Makati Medical Center.
