But as the skies became clearer, the mountains behind Metro Manila look impressive as backdrops to the quiet metropolis. Once bustling with busy people, with streets filled with various vehicles and hurried commuters, Metro Manila looks like a ghost town as people are told to stay inside.

Taken from Makati, tourist spots like Mt. Mariveles (Bataan), Caballo Island (an island near Corregidor), Mt. Arayat (Pampanga), and the Sierra Madre (part of Rizal) look so beautiful and within reach.

A lot of netizens feel great about the pictures, saying that it was nice to get to see these beautiful sights from the city. Many agreed that though the virus has wreaked havoc in our lives, it has also reminded us about the beauty of Mother Nature and our role to take good care of God’s creation.

Now, we all appreciate the beauty of God’s creation😊😊,” one netizen wrote.

My maganda din pala talaga idudulot ang lockdown…” another commented.

Ganito ka ganda ang kalikasan kung ito’y ating iniingatan. They are just majestic in every way,” another agreed.

But others were not so impressed, particularly because the mountains look denuded! Many think that something should also be done about the mountains, not just keeping the air in Metro Manila clean when life returns to normal when the pandemic is gone.

Nakalbo na mga kabundukan natin, Lalong- lalo na yung Sierra Madre na humaharang ng Malakas na Bagyon papasok ng Manila. Nagkaroon pa tayo ng DENR , wala rin,” one netizen observed.
