These days, gamers can collect ‘stars’ on Facebook as tips from their fans when they do live stream videos – and many gamers are actually earning thousands of dollars per day from these stars!
But what’s truly impressive is that one gamer launched a donation drive to collect ‘stars’ to help the quake-hit people in Mindanao.
These past weeks, several earthquakes rocked various parts of Mindanao, displacing a lot of people and leaving many of them too afraid to get inside their homes. Many were also left without food and water, aside from the problem of not having any shelter.
Donations poured in from various individuals and groups, but netizens are proud of one gamer who they hail as a real-life hero for helping out these people through something he’s an expert of: gaming! But how can gaming save these people?
It turned out that the real-life hero behind CHoOx TV is collecting these ‘stars’ and using the money to buy relief goods to the people in North Cotabato, one of the areas affected by the earthquakes.
CHoOx TV launched “Star for a Cause”, aiming to help send aid to these people – and his fans responded positively!
“STARS FOR A CAUSE (7 Days)
What’s impressive is that on November 2, the first day of the donation drive, “Stars for a Cause” earned nearly Php70,000! The following day, it was close to Php40,000 and the third day went past the Php50,000 mark.
This proves that there’s money in gaming – but the most important thing is that these gamers have big hearts for those who are in need! So far, these are the collected stars, to be updated as CHoOx TV continues to receive the stars to help others.

His fans were also quite impressed that he didn’t even wait for the 7-day donation drive to end. After collecting nearly Php70k on the first day, the gamer and several volunteers bought the initial batch of relief goods. They got sacks of rice, large bottles of water, and other much-needed food items like canned goods and instant noodles.
Then, with other volunteers, they repacked the goods for distribution. Truly impressive!
As of press time, they still have four days to go to collect the donations for the cause. Good luck!
