Miss Universe Vietnam H’hen Nie recently made waves on social media after it was revealed that the 26-year-old beauty queen had once been a domestic helper and nanny to send herself to school.
In her homecoming video after being crowned as Miss Universe Vietnam, H’hen once again impressed everyone with her down-to-earth nature and the fact that she donated the entire $10,000 to schools in her village.
This was part of her advocacy to send more children to school, something very important in the tribe where the girls are married off at a young age!
But her recent achievement in the international pageant was not just a historic moment for Vietnam, it also showed the world just how big this young lady’s heart is for helping the poor and needy.
Miss Universe Vietnam organizers announced:
“After making history for Vietnam by reaching to the final Top 5 in Miss Universe 2018, H’Hen Nie has received a total 1-billion-VND (~43 000 $ US) prize from various sponsors as well as her managing company.
She’s decided to donate 100% of her prize for social activities. She wants to complete her promise with her village to provide scholarships for poor students and complete her social project Room to Read (build more libraries in rural areas, support schoolgirls around the world). Such an amazing act of her.”
A lot of people were amazed that she would still share her cash prize to others since she had already done that with her previous win for Miss Universe Vietnam!
As she goes home to Vietnam, the beauty queen was met with cheers at the airport.
“Thank you for welcoming me back home. I didn’t feel tired, I didn’t cry. But I did cry because of your warm welcoming when I was back to Vietnam, those were tears of happiness,” H’Hen wrote on her Instagram account.
People are hoping this young lady would continue with her kindness to others, saying she is definitely a regal queen.
