Remember the twins who went viral for having unique fast food chain names, McDonald and Jollibee Pangindian? After their story went viral, McDonald’s (yes, the fast food chain this time!) threw them a graduation party!
Of course, McDonald’s didn’t just throw a party for their namesake McDonald but also for his fraternal twin, Jollibee. Yep, McDonald’s and Jollibee might be staunch rivals in the Philippines’ fast food chain market, but the international brand was willing to put their rivalry aside for the sake of goodwill and cheer.
Their claim to fame began when their ‘kuya’ Mark Lester Andrei Cruzet, a family friend, shared the interesting story of their very common yet unique names. A lot of people felt that it was rather funny that their dad would think about naming them after two rival fast food chains.
Yet the common name also meant they had unique people names. For now many people would really name their kids as McDonald and Jollibee, anyway?
Mark Lester wrote:
“Love ko ‘tong family na ito, dahil sa kanila, bida ang saya.
Congratulations Jolli and Mcdo! 😍 Galingan lagi sa lahat ng bagay. Patuloy na lumaban para sa mga pangarap. 💛 Your Kuya Lester is so proud to the both of you! 👏👏👏
Pagbati rin po sa proud mommy, Ma’am Evelyn! 👏🎉 Pa-Jollibee .. . at Mcdo naman po kayo! 😍😂🤣 Joke po hihi”
After their story went viral, it was just a matter of time before the food chains would take notice. McDonald’s appears to have reached out to the family first!
“Magkaribal man sa pangalan, nagkakaisa naman sa pangarap! Congratulations to the twins Jollibee and Mcdonald Pangindian for recently finishing senior high school! Pinatunayan niyo na #WeGraduateAsOne. Dahil love namin kayo, may treat kami para sa inyong pamilya! #LoveKoTo,” wrote the official Facebook of McDonald’s in the Philippines.
Congratulations, McDonald and Jollibee! We’re also looking forward to that party Jollibee will surely throw for you as well…
