While Marcelito Pomoy is a household name in the Philippines and everyone knows about his impressive talent, just imagine the surprise he gave the judges and audience of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” when he performed his solo-duet of “The Prayer”! Just like how Pinoy netizens were surprised when he first appeared on “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2011, Marcelito managed to impress everyone with his performance on AGT.
Accompanied by his wife, Joan, Marcelito took the stage of the show and proudly declared that he’s from the Philippines. Joan told the judges that life was hard for Marcelito back in the Philippines, with the video intro showing how he joined the reality TV singing competition just to find his family. Before that, he lived in the streets.
Thanks to the show, everyone across the Philippines helped him find his family – and he was finally reunited with his parents who were present as he won as Grand Champion on “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2011.
Fast forward to 2020, he was invited as one of the contestants of AGT The Champions, season 2. He was among the performers who showcased their talents in the show’s second week. Representing the Philippines, Marcelito was happy that he is able to show the world his unique talent.
When he started singing in falsetto for the first few lines of “The Prayer”, the judges jumped out of their seats – and the audience gave him a standing ovation! But they were also quite impressed with his ‘male voice’ as he sang in the lower register.
And while many Pinoy fans are used to hearing him sing in this unique solo-duet performance, a lot admitted that they had tears in their eyes as they watched him sing and impress the global audience! Check out his impressive performance here:
We could've sworn there was someone else singing with Marcelito Pomoy! 🤯
