Lea Salonga’s Take on People Using Phones in Theater: “Zero manners, zero breeding”

Even in the past, award-winning singer Lea Salonga is known for being vocal about her opinion on social media. In fact, Lea is not afraid to air out her pet peeves about other people.

Earlier this week, Lea once again shared her thoughts about every theatergoer’s nightmare: people who use their phones inside the cinema.

Although she did not mention the show she was seeing, the Tony-winning star had something to say for cellphone-users during plays and concerts:

“You guys have zero manners, zero breeding, zero empathy. If all you’re gonna do while sitting in the front row of a play is hunch over your phone, do everyone a favor and leave.”

Furthermore, Lea claimed that using a mobile phone inside the theater is not only disruptive for other audience, but it is also disrespectful to the performers. The singer did not hold back in asking these people to leave instead of ruining the show for other theatergoers:

“Take your entitled 4ss somewhere else. Money may get you theater tickets and your state of the art cellphone, but it can’t buy you class.”

On the other hand, this is not the first time that Lea has expressed her stance about theater etiquette. Way back in December 2018, the singer expressed her disapproval to the teenagers who ruined her experience while watching “Waitress.”

That time, she took to Twitter to share her frustrating experience.

Apparently, some of them even had the audacity to use the official hashtag of the show while breaking the rules.  Lea’s tweet garnered support from netizens; most of whom were also advocating for the proper manners inside the theater and cinema.
