When they first got married, financial hardships meant they had to settle for a simple, practical wedding to celebrate their union. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, of course, 36-year-old Jonathan Indino vowed to make it up to wife Marlyn, 33, by surprising her with the wedding of her dreams.
Jonathan and Marlyn, a couple based in Davao, got married in a simple ceremony back in January 2010. Recently, Marlyn felt so sad and thought her husband forgot their 10th anniversary; thus, she made plans for the family to go to the beach and have dinner afterwards. Jonathan ‘made it up’ by suggesting they go on a day trip to Pacific Little Secret.
The resort does not actually offer day trips, only overnight stays, but Marlyn didn’t know that – and didn’t also know that Jonathan was actually planning to surprise her with a dream wedding at their favorite resort.
She had no idea that her husband had already flown in his parents from Indonesia (they are based there as his mother is Indonesian). Her parents, their close family and friends, their children, and the original entourage of their first wedding, were already waiting at the resort, actually hiding in the rooms or at the beach so she wouldn’t see them.
When their boat arrived, she was surprised that their kids ran to meet them – and there were lots of cameras and drones taking photos. But because Jonathan told her they will have a photoshoot on the island, she thought that was all just part of the pictorials.
Weeks before the trip, Jonathan told her that he hired a photographer, Jourdan Anting of Casa de Fotografia, to do pictorials for them because they didn’t have the luxury of having a prenup photoshoot.
What she didn’t know is that it was actually an excuse not just for a photoshoot but to also get her measurements for the wedding gown. At the time, he was already working with the photographer’s wife, wedding organizer Diane Mecares, to plan the surprise.
As they arrived at the island resort, a team brought her to the makeup room to get ready for the photoshoot. But she didn’t know that everyone was also getting ready for the wedding were already at the beach.
After some pictures outside the room, she was led to the beach where huge white curtains were supposed to provide ‘backdrop’ for the pictorials. But opening a gap in the curtains revealed her husband waiting at the altar – and all their family and friends, ready for the wedding to begin! Wow.
Marlyn was truly surprised. She walked down the aisle with a big smile and happy tears streaming down her cheeks. She had always dreamed of a beach wedding but didn’t know that Jonathan would surprise her with one on their 10th anniversary! So sweet…
