Girl Loses Boyfriend in Underwater Proposal Gone Wrong, Shares Heartbreaking Video

It was supposed to be one of the most beautiful moments in their life as they took a break to enjoy a trip to Tanzania, but the guy’s underwater proposal goes wrong and he ends up going home in a box…

Steven Weber and his girlfriend Kenesha Antoine booked a beautiful cabin at Manta Resort on Pemba Island, off Tanzania. The cabin is tethered out at sea and has an underwater bedroom that’s about 30 feet deep.

Though it had a deck where guests can relax and watch the sea, the best experience is down the underwater bedroom where they can enjoy watching fishes and various sea creatures swim around the glass-walled cabin.

Kenesha shares a video of their room here:

They toured many exciting places in Tanzania; it was truly an exciting experience for the couple.

Unknown to Kenesha, Steven had prepared a ring and had planned on doing an underwater proposal. On September 19, the third day of their stay, Steven dove from the platform and swam towards the submerged cabin some 30 feet deep.

He held a handwritten sign carefully sealed in a zip-top bag.

I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. But… Everything I love about you I love more every day!” the sign read.

Kenesha excitedly filmed the proposal, giggling with delight as Steven took a ring out of his bathing-suit pocket.

Will you please be my wife. Marry me???” he wrote at the other side of the sign.

After showing her the ring, he swam up and out of view. But he never emerged from the depths.

A panicked Kenesha realized something went wrong when Steven didn’t return to their room after several minutes. Seeking help from Manta Resort staff, Kenesha waited in vain for Steven to swim up to the surface.

Staff arrived at their cabin, but by the time they finally found Steven, it was too late. His underwater “I can hold my breath long enough” proposal cost him his precious life.

You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, “Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!” We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives turned into the worst, in the cruelest twist of fate imaginable,” Kenesha wrote in a tribute on Facebook as she posted some videos and photos from their trip.

I will try to take solace in the fact that we enjoyed the most amazing bucket list experiences these past few days, and that we both were so happy and absolutely giddy with excitement in our final moments together.
