From Php8.8 Million Talent Fee, Mayor Isko Donates Gadgets for Online School to Poor Kids

Using his talent fee of Php8.8 million from endorsements of various brands and companies, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso bought more than 1,000 gadgets that can be used for online school by the poor kids in his city.

The move gained praise online, with netizens saying that they wish their mayors would also do something like this for the kids in their locality.

While there were people who slammed the mayor for appearance on commercials and billboard ads, he continually defends himself and explains that he accepts the endorsements because he wants to earn more money to help his people. You can’t fault him for that, really.

A lot of netizens were glad that Mayor Isko used his talent fees to buy gadgets for the students, especially because they are targeting students who belong to the “poorest of the poor” who are studying at the Universidad de Manila.

With the help of Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, the good mayor distributed 1,010 pieces of Samsung Galaxy Tab A devices to these students.

“Alam ko po ang hirap na dinaranas ng ating mga mag-aaral, lalo na mga mahihirap na nasa ating mga pampublikong paaralan. Kaya’t inihahandog po namin ito ni Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna.

Hangad po namin silang matulungan sa kanilang online calsses ngayong may blended learning mode dahil sa pandemyang dulot ng COVID-19.

Manila, God First!”
