Former Vendor, ‘Kasambahay’ Inspires after Becoming Multi-Millionaire CEO of Own Company

Due to poverty, Rebecca Bustamante was not able to finish her studies on time because she had to sell various stuff to help support her family even on days when she’s supposed to go to school. She would later become a ‘kasambahay’ but she inspired everyone with her story as she became a multi-millionaire CEO of her own company!

Proud kasambahay but now the boss, Rebecca grew up with a difficult life. But her story inspired many people who are struggling with finances, just like what she experienced back when she was younger.

Born to a poor family with 11 children in Dasol, Pangasinan, Rebecca was still a young kid when she began helping out her parents by selling fish, bread, and other food items. Her earnings might be small but she’s happy to bring food to the table.

Sadly, they were so poor that when their mother got sick, there was nothing they could do but wait for her passing because they could not even afford to buy medicines! As they bid goodbye to their mother, Rebecca promised to take care of her siblings.

But she would later learn that they were about to lose their house. So, the young lady worked as janitress at a bank, earning Php800 a month. Soon, she was able to redeem their property.

Knowing she could support her family better if she worked abroad, Rebecca found a job as domestic helper in Singapore. There, she took time to enroll at the Open University, allowing her to finish her studies while still working full time.

This would be her stepping stone to Canada where she worked as nanny. But Rebecca didn’t stop dreaming. She studied Accounting and Marketing at Ryerson University in Toronto. When she received her open permit after 2 years, the hardworking young woman would start her own Nanny Recruitment Agency.

Rebecca would soon inspire many with her journey from street vendor to domestic helper to nanny to owner of her own company! In the past, the family only had salt and rice for food. They would sleep on the floor with just a ‘banig’ on their backs. Today, Rebecca owns several houses and was able to build a large home at the site where their old nipa hut stood.

DH to Milyonarya
