Doctors Laugh as Baby Comes Out Holding IUD, Showing Triumph Over Failed Device

A lot of women use IUDs as a method to prevent contraception. While IUDs rank as among the best methods of contraception with over 99% effectiveness, there remains that 1% chance of a woman getting pregnant even while the IUD is in place.

When the IUD fails, a baby could be formed. Whoever, if that happens, there’s also a chance that there might be complications in the pregnancy or it could lead to issues like ectopic pregnancy. But in other instances, the baby and the mother are alright, with the pregnancy going OK.

Recently, a newborn baby went viral as it comes out of the womb holding the IUD, the very device whose failure led to the baby’s conception. It was so hilarious and simply so perfect that the doctors snapped a photo of the baby with the IUD, sharing it on social media with the mother’s permission.

Even the mother had a good laugh over the baby’s antics.

According to reports, the 34-year-old mother had given birth to this cheeky baby last June 30, 2020 at Hai Phong International Hospital in Hai Phong City, Vietnam. The child is normal, weighing 3.2 kg.

The doctors confirmed that the mother had already given birth to two children before having the IUD inserted some 2 years ago. A routine check at the hospital sometime later showed that she had a 5-week-old fetus at the spot where the IUD was supposed to be.

But it amused this mother that the child would be coming out holding the device! It must have thought it was a plaything while it was forming in the womb. LOL.

After delivery, I thought him holding the device was interesting, so I took a picture. I never thought it would receive so much attention,” said Tran Viet Phuong, head of the hospital’s second obstetrics department.

Welcome to the world, you cheeky little baby!
