When Michael Jamandre ordered something from a shop in Binondo, Manila, he felt angry when it took the rider so long to deliver the item. It was nearly 3 hours but the rider still has not arrived!
But his anger quickly faded when the guy finally arrived because he discovered that the rider took so long to bring the item because he cycled from Binondo to Cavite in his old BMX bike! Despite the long distance of around 40km, the rider (through the store) only charged Php250 for the trip.
Mag antay lang daw ako,” Michael narrated on his Facebook account.
“Nung dumating ung rider bigla nawala inis ko. Una natawa ako tapus naawa ako. Grabi from Binondo papuntang Cavite eto lang gamit nya tapus ang rate 250pesos.”
Michael immediately asked the store about their arrangement with the rider and why they are only charging Php250 for the delivery when the guy had to cycle so far.
Fair enough. The ‘tambays’ get some work and earn some money while the customers don’t have to pay a lot for the delivery. Still, Michael took pity on the rider. So, he gave him the extra cash from the change. But the guy did not even accept all the money. Admirable.
Later, Michael added the rider as friend on Facebook. He learned that this guy even made deliveries to Batangas, cycling for 7-8 hours in that old BMX bike! Whoa. Netizens are now rallying to buy this guy a better bike so he won’t have such a hard time with deliveries.
