Ostriches can’t fly but they are amazing runners. They can even run up to 96.6km/h for short bursts or a steady 72km/h on average.

These are amazing creatures to see in the zoo or safari – and surely such incredible animals in the wild! So, imagine how the Crown Prince of Dubai felt as he ‘raced’ with these amazing creatures during a cycling event he attended with other bikers.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, best known on social media simply as ‘Fazza’, was cycling with several other bikers in what appears to be a race, when two majestic wild ostriches cross their path and went on running along the road.

Instead of stopping, the Crown Prince cycled on – and the resulting video and photos looked fantastic as he appeared to be racing with the creatures in the wild. Many netizens thought he was so lucky to experience such a once-in-lifetime event. Others pointed out that there were others who cycled with him, but he became the focus of the group since he’s the Crown Prince, after all.

This is how to kick off 2021. Awesome agility and strength in those legs! Where can we see them pls? #bucketlist,” one netizen wrote with admiration.

It was actually a close call for the Crown Prince who could have been injured had he been hit by the giant birds. It is lucky that he was able to ‘race’ with these animals, even for just a short time.

It can be recalled that the Crown Prince of Dubai is known for being an animal lover. Last year, he stopped using his Mercedes for several months after seeing that birds have made a nest on the windscreen.
