26-Year-Old Ship ‘Kusinero’ Goes Viral after Opening His Own Gasoline Station

He’s just 26 years old but John Ebreo has impressed netizens after he opened his own gasoline station using money he earned from working as ship kusinero (cook).

In the 6 years that he was able to work on a ship, John saved up his earnings. He did not use his money to shop for at the huge malls of the places that he gets to visit while he worked on that ship. Instead, he saved up his money to invest in something for his family’s future.

He invested his savings in a gasoline station at their hometown in Sitio Masayahin, Brgy. Montecillo in Sariaya, Quezon. His family supported him wholeheartedly – and his dad even sold their car to add money to the investment.

They opened the gasoline station, named after their family name Ebreo, last May 2020. Though John was not able to go back to his work on board a ship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family did not have anything to worry about because they now have earnings from the gas station to help sustain their needs.

Thankfully, things worked out fine for the family. Soon, John was able to replace the vehicle that his dad had sold to help fund the gas station business! It did not even take him a year to buy his dad a new car.

Now that he is reaping the fruits of his labor and sacrifice, John advises other young people to not spend their hard-earned money on luxurious things. Instead, it would be a good idea to invest this on a business or something that would truly be useful in the future.
