Lindsey Sheely of West Warwick in Rhode Island was surprised when her 2-year-old boy, Cohen, speeds past her to give the pizza deliver driver a hug, something he doesn’t usually do!
Amused by the encounter, she posted the video taken from the doorbell CCTV camera. She was later surprised to learn that the delivery man, Ryan Catterson, truly needed that hug because he had lost his daughter just days before that sweet hug!
It all started when the family called “Wicked Good Pizza” for a home delivery. At around 7PM, Ryan arrived at their front door with the pizza. After receiving the money, Ryan made his way off the porch and was closing the gate when Cohen rushed to him for a big hug.
Perhaps the kid was thankful that the pizza finally arrived so he gave the pizza guy a hug, but because he has not done that before, the amused mom just had to show it to her family and friends. She checked the CCTV footage from the doorbell camera and uploaded the video on her social media account.
Lindsey only intended to post it for family and friends; but the video would soon reach Ryan who quickly messaged her for permission to share the clip. The proud mom happily agreed.
But while checking his profile out of curiosity, Lindsey was shocked to learn that though he was smiling throughout their encounter, Ryan was actually hurting inside as he had just lost his young daughter! He would repost the video, writing that he needed that hug more than Cohen ever knew.
There’s no explanation for Cohen’s hug except that he was likely so happy that the pizza arrived. But some netizens believe it was something else – that he was ‘asked’ by Ryan’s daughter or perhaps an angel to give comfort to this grieving dad…
