Thirty-year-old Anny Divya may be the youngest woman ever to captain a Boeing 777—a dream she had since she was 17 years old. But she did not have an easy time realizing her dreams, primarily because, her some members of her family did not support her career choice.
Unyielding, the young lady who grew up in Andhra Pradesh, India, was able to join a flying school in Uttar Pradesh, the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA). She also trained in Spain and London before becoming a qualified commercial flyer.
Anny struggled financially but she had her parents to back her up. She said that she had her parents to thank for what she becomes, for believing in her goals, and letting her fly. Apparently, nobody was doing any pilot course in her city of Vijayawada, at that time, so a lot of people close to her are discouraging her from taking the said course.
She also admitted that she had been bullied in school because of her English skills. People mocked her for her poor English and it hurt her a lot.
But she did not give up. Instead, she continued to perfect her English until she got better at it.
Aside from being the youngest female captain of a Boeing 777, Anny is also a classical keyboard player, a dancer, and had a post-graduate degree in Law.
