Teacher Praised for Helping Kid with Oversized Shoes, Old Uniform Owned by Older Brother

It is a sad reality that many poor folks can’t afford to provide their children with proper uniforms. The kids end up wearing other clothing items to school or use hand-me-downs that might already be too worn out or are still too large for them to actually use.

In Sungai Petani, Malaysia, one teacher went viral for helping a kid buy a new set of uniform that actually fit him, after he saw the boy struggling as he walked in his oversized shoes and old hand-me-down pants.

The teacher, Mohd Nasir Mohd Zain, noticed the Grade 3 student struggling as he walked across the school yard. The kid had one hand on his pants, trying to prevent the baggy old pants from falling to his feet, yet he was also dragging his feet as he walked.

While the kid was not even on his class, Teacher Zain expressed concern and asked the boy about his situation.

I asked him why was he walking like that. He told me that he couldn’t walk properly because his shoes were too big for him. I could fit three fingers in the space in his shoes,” Teacher Zain shared.

The kid’s pants were also too worn out and were actually owned by his elder brother, a Grade 6 student.

Touched by the boy’s sad plight and seeing that he looks rather embarrassed with his baggy pants and oversized shoes, the teacher decided he would buy this kid at least one set of uniform that would fit him well.

After asking permission from the principal, Teacher Zain took the boy to Kepala Batas, a nearby town with a department store selling uniforms and shoes. He bought the kid some uniform and a pair of shoes, ensuring that the boy would never have to drag his feet across the school yard.

What a beautiful act of kindness, right?
