He’s gay and known as ‘Mother’ Ricky Reyes, but in a recent interview, he expressed disapproval over the SOGIE bill that some members of the LGBTQIA+ community are trying to push through proposals made by some lawmakers.
The bill has received much attention recently after the toilet incident of transwoman Gretchen Diez who has become the new face of the LGBTQIA+ community when she was not allowed to use the women’s toilet at a mall.
Netizens are divided over the issue, but most are not in favor of gays and transwomen using the women’s toilet.
And while a lot of gays believe they are entitled to use the women’s toilet because they are ‘women at heart’, there are also those who believe that they might feel like women but they still have male parts down there – and that’s the reason why they should still use the male toilet!
Mother Ricky is among the gays who are not in favor of the SOGIE bill. Instead of pushing for gay rights, Mother Ricky believes that members of the LGBTQIA+ community should go out of their way to seek respect from society.
As for the toilet issue, he has the same belief as netizens over where gays should go to take a pee.
Finish!” he passionately explained.
“Nirerespeto kita bilang tao, nirerespeto kita bilang bading, pero lumugar tayo sa tamang lugar.”
He is also against gays trying to ‘take over’ places and events for women, such as pageants and bars. Instead of doing that, he urges gays to enjoy and support their own gay community.
But what really got a lot of netizens clapping their hands and shouting ‘Bravo!’ is Mother Ricky’s stand on marriage. For him, marriage should only between a man and a woman. While he’s OK with gays having boyfriends, he said that gays should not enter marriage.
“[email protected] sa relihiyon, ‘wag na!” he vehemently said, before jokingly adding, “Let it be nalang… ang bakla, ke anong gawin mo ang bakla ay bakla; gilingin mo man yan paglabas nyan ay baklang hamburger!”
