It is a sad reality for many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that a lot of them are not treated well by their employers. Many are not provided with proper food or allowed to rest well. There are even those who are not given their own rooms and are only allowed to sleep in the kitchen or living room.
One OFW working in Dammam, Saudi Arabia recently sought help from Raffy Tulfo in action after she was unjustly terminated by her employer. And the most amazing thing happened – not only did Tulfo help her out, he also traveled to Davao to personally take her home. Wow.
A single mom, Ajelou Masayao went to Dammam as domestic helper to provide a better life for her son who will be graduating from elementary this year. Left at their hometown in Sitio Mapula, Brgy. Cabuaya, Mati, Davao Oriental, the kid also did his best to study and make his mother proud.
But one day, Masayao was terminated by her employer without warning. She was sent back to the Philippines with nothing in her pocket! With Davao being very far from Manila, Masayao was unable to go back home because she didn’t even have enough money to buy for food or pay for a good place to stay while in Manila.
So, the OFW thought about seeking help from Tulfo – and he didn’t fail her.
Tulfo promised to bring the OFW home, and actually did this by taking the flight with her and personally going to her hometown. It was a wonderful act that made a lot of people praise the veteran broadcaster.
Aside from taking the OFW home, Tulfo also provided her with livelihood so that she will no longer need to go back abroad to provide for her son.
Tulfo also brought gift items for Masayao’s son, including a new cellphone, clothes, shoes, and school supplies.
