While we now live in a modern world, there are still many places in the Philippines where people believe in superstitions and strange stories of supernatural beings.
But in the island of Manait in Bacacay, Albay, the villagers believe that one of the young ladies had gotten pregnant by a fish!
Kimberly Robles, 17, experienced pain in her stomach in June 2017. Since then, her tummy had been growing; she now looks like she’s 7 months pregnant but the young lady vehemently denies the pregnancy, saying she doesn’t have a boyfriend.
Pablo Besinal, Kimberly’s father, first thought that the young lady was trying to hide a secret lover but the young lady promised this isn’t real. They went to the doctor and was surprised when the ultrasound showed that there’s a fish living inside her tummy!
The fish was even facing the probe, so that its facial features were clear on the ultrasound. It had the head of a fish, mouth of a fish, and eyes of a fish. Another view of the ‘fish’ even showed its tail!
The villagers quickly learned about Kimberly’s strange ‘pregnancy’ and even her grandmother believes the fish tale was for real. The old woman claimed that the reason why Kimberly got pregnant is that she loves to bathe in the sea. Perhaps a fish fell in love with her?
But a neighbor claimed Kimberly might be pregnant by an eel. She said that they were doing laundry at the river when a huge eel swam near Kimberly. They tried to drive it away but it suddenly disappeared.
A team from Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (One at Heart, Jessica Soho) helped Kimberly go to another doctor for a second opinion. Based on the second ultrasound, it was revealed that she has a cyst, not a fish inside her tummy.
