Pregnant Student Denied Graduation Rites Because She’s ‘Immoral’

Pregnant schoolgirl Maddi Runkles, a straight A student and a student council president, was told that she is not allowed to take part in her high school graduation because she was ‘immoral’.

Heritage Academy initially expelled the 18-year-old when she told the school about her pregnancy way back in January. But the leaders of the school allowed her to return, but she is not allowed to march onstage during the graduation ceremony.

The school website states that it requires the students to sign a pledge to protect their bodies by “abstaining from sexual immorality and from the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.”

Principal David Cobbs of the Heritage Academy said that they love Maddi Runkles and that the best way to love her is “to hold her accountable for her immorality that began the situation.”

He added that the school, Heritage Academy, is pleased that she had chosen not to abort her son.

Though Maddi’s parents think that she should be held accountable for what she did, grace and love should prevail for restoration to take place. They are now planning to hold Maddi’s own graduation ceremony the day after the event.
