Policeman Earns Praise for Standing as Guardian to Student Whose Parents He Had Put in Jail

He was just doing his job when he put a couple in jail for activities that went against the law, but a policeman is being praised for going beyond the call of duty when he served as guardian to the couple’s Grade 7 daughter!

PCpl Claro A. Fornis of Police Community Precinct 1, Makati City Police Station was approached by Angela Perez, the daughter of a couple he had put in jail for their activities.

An incoming Grade 7 student of General Pio Del Pilar National High School, Angela needed a guardian before she could enroll but this was an impossibility because her parents were both in jail.

Her relatives wouldn’t also stand as her guarding, leading the young lady to turn to the police officer for help.

Understanding the situation and feeling bad for the young girl who really wanted to go to school, Fornis readily accompanied her and became her guardian at the school.

Fornis later admitted that as a father, he really felt so sad for Angela and knew that it was impressive that she did her best to get him as guardian so she could be back in school, despite her situation.

The good deed went viral and reached NCRPO Director PMGEN Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar. The chief personally visited Angela to provide further assistance, especially after learning that she actually had a serious condition involving her thyroid glands.

Then, Eleazar gave commendation to Fornis for the kind deed he extended to the student.

Sa totoo lang nabasa ko lang sa dyaryo and when I read the article I was touched by the effort done by PCpl Fornis and for that being the father of the NCRPO, sabi ko dapat ito ang mga nirerecognize,” Eleazar said.

Aside from school supplies and financial assistance, the chief also offered help through the NCRPO Regional Health Service to check on Angela’s health condition.

Kudos to you, sirs!
