OFW Scams Family of Php250k, Claims He’s Living in the Streets of Kuwait But Can’t Go Home

Because they are working abroad to support their families, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are expected to be the ones to send money back to the Philippines. But the opposite happened to Tatay Rizal Anico whose family is the one sending him money in Kuwait!

Fed up by their dad’s promises and feeling that they have been scammed by their own father, Rizel Anico went to Raffy Tulfo in Action to seek help in getting him back to the Philippines. According to Rizel, they did it for the sake of their mom who was worried sick about her husband’s supposed homeless plight in Kuwait.

Rizel said that her father had last come home when she was still 5 years old, some 22 years ago. He went back to Kuwait but they never saw him again. Still, their mother continues to hope that he would come back.

In fact, when their father claimed that he was already living in the streets and going blind, their mother urged them to send him the money he’s asking for so he could come home.

Rizel’s siblings in Canada hurriedly sent their dad Php100k which he said he used to buy plane tickets and send his belongings via courier. That was many years ago. He didn’t arrive at their home and wouldn’t contact them for the next 2 years.

Recently, though, their mother was worried about Tatay Rizal again because he claimed to be having more troubles in Kuwait. He supposedly became a guarantor to a fellow OFW’s loan but now has to pay this or face jail time. He still ‘lives in the streets’ and experiencing various ailments.

While his children no longer believe him, his wife continues to love him unconditionally and was worried sick about his plight. This led the children to once again send him money: Php100k and Php50k. Again, he didn’t come home.

Feeling scammed, Rizel went to Tulfo to contact her father. Tatay Rizal pretends he couldn’t hear them and would later cancel calls from the show. This led to Tulfo seeking help from other OFWs in Kuwait as well as Filipino officials in the area to find Tatay Rizal and have him deported.
