Malaysian Student Book a Grab Ride, Driver Turns Out to be the Father She Has Not Seen in 10 Years

On a usual school day, 17-year-old Salma Zuhara from Central Java, Indonesia, would book a GrabBike to get home from school. Little did she know that a surprise awaits her when she requested a ride from the said app just a few days ago.

She was not paying much attention when she first met her driver. She took another look and she realized that the driver looked familiar. The man turned out to be her father whom she has not seen for 10 years.

She posted this event on Instagram and said that her parents divorced 10 years ago. She had no idea where her father stayed the whole time and they have not seen each other since her parents parted ways.

The ride felt awkward for both father and daughter and they were not able to talk much. However, when they reached Salma’s house, where Salma, her mother, and her three younger siblings are staying, her father gave her his contact number so they talk and catch up with each other more.

Salma felt a mixture of emotions after she saw her father again. She said that she felt sadness, happiness, awkwardness, all at the same time, and she could not explain why.
