A family-run bakery in Jakarta, Indonesia has been translating stunning architectural design—from fairy tale castles, glazed cathedrals, and detailed pagodas—into wedding cakes that bring every bride’s dream wedding to life.
LeNovelle Cake started in 1993 as a neighborhood cake business which sells birthday cakes to friends and family. In 2004, it started selling wedding cakes with complex designs. A single cake takes a month to be completed, with 24 people working 12 hours a day.
In delivering the cakes to the clients, a regular car would not do. Two trucks are required to move the structural cake, accompanied by a group of staff who will repair any damage during transportation, assemble the cake and the sugar flower, and do the finishing touches.
Lights are also added to make the cakes more impressive. A small light bulb will be installed inside the hollowed structure. The bulb will then be connected to a battery or a power outlet, depending on the request.
On the other hand, traditional Christmas lights are used for lighting that wraps around the cake. The cables are hidden between the sugar flowers or crystals and, afterward, the cakes are covered in fondant icing and other decorations.
A stunning cake from LeNovelle Cake starts at $5,000, but the most expensive one was sold for $500,000! However, Tiffany Riyadi, daughter of the couple who founded Le Novelle, said that they had not gotten any order for a 100% edible castle.
