In the Philippines, it really is quite common to see young Pinay ladies getting married to foreigners, many of whom are much older than the women and are even pensioners already. Of course, there are also young couples but most are still Pinay women and the foreigners are male.
But Vikachka Chaya Radaviciūtė and Eugene Galang have a different story to tell. You see, Eugene is Filipino while Vikachka is from Lithunia – and it would be Vikachka who would fly all the way from her country to meet up with her Pinoy boyfriend in the Philippines!
The couple met online in May 2017 but the casual meeting would soon turn into hours of video calls and chatting about anything under the sun. The two got along so well and quickly upgraded their status to officially become a couple.
But how would a long-distance relationship work between a Lithuanian girl and a Pinoy guy?
The internet is a powerful tool for the two, enabling them to connect with each other despite the distance between them and the difference in their time zones.
Their first meeting was sweet and a bit awkward because Eugene had no idea what to do, starstruck at how beautiful his girlfriend was in person. But as they embraced at the airport, things just fell into place. It was a lovely moment.
Not wasting time, Eugene brought Vikachka to the many tourist spots in the area and made sure to treat her at his favorite hangouts. The Lithuanian girl had a lot of fun in the Philippines – and went home with a lot of ‘pasalubong’ for her family and friends, Filipino-style.
The young lady was disappointed, however, at the many judgmental comments their video received from other Filipinos.
She defended her boyfriend, saying it was her who came to the Philippines because it was really much easier than if Eugene did it since Philippine immigration is very strict. Moreover, she had to work to earn the ticket to the Philippines but when that wasn’t enough, Eugene sent her money to cover the remaining cost.
Then, he promised he would take care of all the expenses she would incur in the Philippines so she won’t worry about a thing. Though she brought 200 Euro (Php12,000) during her trip, the money remained intact as Eugene kept his promise. He even bought her a new bag since hers got damaged on the way to the Philippines. Then, he and his family filled her bag with pasalubong!
After Vikachka’s lengthy explanation, many netizens apologized in behalf of the rude commenters, welcoming the young lady back to the Philippines and wishing the two happiness.
