Filipino-American singer Angelica Hale recently made history for being the first contestant to get two golden buzzers on “America’s Got Talent” as she returns to the show for “The Champions” edition.
“We’re not crying… You’re crying! 11-year-old @angelicahale is the first two-time #GoldenBuzzer EVER!” the show’s official Twitter account wrote on Tuesday.
It can be recalled that Angelica received her first golden buzzer when she joined the twelfth season of “America’s Got Talent” back in 2017. After covering Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire”, the young girl impressed guest judge Chris Hardwick who gave her a golden buzzer.
Many fans were rooting for Angelica, not just because of her amazing voice but also for her adorable personality. But the young girl lost to another adorable and talented young girl, ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer.
Finishing the season in second place brought Angelica to the new season, “The Champions” on “America’s Got Talent” where she sang Rachel Platten’s 2014 hit “Fight Song”.
The judges and audience were quick on their feet as they gave this young lady a standing ovation for the stellar performance. Known for being choosy and strict, judge Simon Cowell was actually the first of the judges to jump up from his seat for a standing ovation. It was obvious that he was greatly impressed by Angelica’s performance.
“Angelica, you are like the little boss lady that you are. You came here to win. I can see that. I can feel that,” judge Heidi Klum was also all-praises for the young girl.
It seems that judge Mel B was the only not impressed by Angelica’s performance, smirking as she told the 11-year-old girl she had expected a ‘twist’ in the song for Angelica to make it ‘her own’. The comment was received with protest by Simon – and the crowd booed Mel B.
“When people show up on this show, the level of competition is much higher. Just by the title, you are amongst champions,” judge Howie Mandel said. Mel B could be seen nodding in agreement.
But Howie meant a completely opposite thing as Mel B must have been thinking.
“You show up and you ripped the ceiling off this theater. That was your fight song. And if I can do anything, I’m gonna help you win this fight,” Howie told Angelica, before standing up to press the golden buzzer! Wow.
Angelica burst into tears of joy and disbelief as confetti rained down the stage.
“I can’t believe this is actually happening to me. I never expected this to happen. I wanted to thank you so much. This is a dream come true,” the young lady said.
Later, Angelica would post happily on her Instagram account.
“I can’t believe that I now have TWO #goldenbuzzers Thank you @howiemandel for believing in me and sending me through to the finale of #AGTChampions!!! #mysmilesaysitall.”
