Tara Kavanagh is a 35-year-old self-employed mom-of-three from Rapid City, South Dakota who used to weigh 304 lbs after having children. When she had her second baby, she wanted to make a change.
Her weight issues started early on in her life as she was battling with emotional eating but coming from a family that has several obese family members, she always believed that she was “destined to be fat”.
She said in an interview with PEOPLE that she wanted to experience new things but it’s her size that was holding her back.
By doing this, she tried to work out but she never stuck to workout routines because she always gets bored before seeing any results. Then, she started doing Jillian Michaels’ workouts. Finally, she was able to found a fitness program that she could stick to. She also focused on the things she eats. She drastically changed her diet. She did not stop eating her favorite foods but she works on portion control. As she saw the results, she felt that she needs to eat healthier meals.
She runs for up to four hours while watching TV at home and she lost over 11stone 3lbs. Now, with a smaller frame, she has a whole new outlook on life.
“The best part of losing the weight has been gaining the confidence to really live my life and try new things, I don’t let my body hold me back anymore,” Tara said in an interview with Woman’s World.
